What About Now

>> 17.11.09

the song "what about now" originally sang by daughtry was a favorite of mine since last year and yesterday i heard a new version of the song by westlife. honestly, both versions are good ^_^ i love westlife too. i remember that i used to sing "my love," and "if i let you go," in the bathroom while i showered tsk, tsk. daughtry version has this rock with acoustic feel to it, on the other hand, westlife version is more pop. when it comes to the video, i like daughtry's version way better than westlife.

watch it and you'll see why.

"what about now"

shadows fill an empty heart
as love is fading,
from all the things that we are
but are not saying.
can we see beyond the scars
and make it to the dawn?

change the colors of the sky.
and open up to
the ways you made me feel alive,
the ways I loved you.
for all the things that never died,
to make it through the night,
love will find you.

what about now?
what about today?
what if you're making me all that I was meant to be?
what if our love never went away?
what if it's lost behind words we could never find?
baby, before it's too late,
what about now?

the sun is breaking in your eyes
to start a new day.
this broken heart can still survive
with a touch of your grace.
shadows fade into the light.
i am by your side,
where love will find you.

what about now?
what about today?
what if you're making me all that I was meant to be?
what if our love, it never went away?
what if it's lost behind words we could never find?
baby, before it's too late,
what about now?

now that we're here,
now that we've come this far,
just hold on.
there is nothing to fear,
for I am right beside you.
for all my life,
i am yours.

What about now?
What about today?
What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?
What if our love never went away?
What if it's lost behind words we could never find?

What about now?
What about today?
What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?
What if our love never went away?
What if it's lost behind words we could never find?
Baby, before it's too late,
Baby, before it's too late,
Baby, before it's too late,
WHAT ABOUT NOW?

My First Poached Egg

>> 14.11.09

i'm done watching julie and julia on dvd last night. then suddenly, i just realized that i haven't eaten any poached eggs before (poor me), if so, i do not remember at all.

so this morning, i attempted to cook with the help of my uncle google. i search and search the internet until i completely know what to do and it was a success the first time around. i'm telling the truth, i know it's hard but i thoroughly followed the instructions and i got it right.

my twin brother loves it.

the movie julie and julia inspired me to cook again. i even found the real blog of ms. julia powell. so, if you love cooking and blogging, i suggest you see this movie. it's very inspiring.

bon appetite!

Jo's Chicken Inato

>> 13.11.09

if your looking for a good place to eat chicken then this is a must try.

jo's chicken inato, bahay manukan located in visayas ave. quezon city.

going there was very easy and the parking space is a no problem although if you decides to come in during the afternoon, which tends to be so hot, an hour later - the moment you get back to your car, your butt is definitely toast.

the restaurant is an open space which is a good thing because if somebody farts, you won't be suffocated. there's a lot of ceiling fans so you won't feel hot. the chairs and tables are made from nara and bamboo with lots of abaca as decorations, you can wash your hands in a banga-like faucet with soap and water, there's even a big three bahay kubo huts rip off with tables so you can really feel the filipino ambiance inside.

the chicken was so tasty, there's a lot of filipino cuisine to choose from. overall, the food was really good.

what are you waiting for, try it now!

today is friday the 13th.

i remember when i was just a little girl, i was punching my twin brother because we were playing wrestling, it was just for fun and laughter but when my mom saw me, she instantly yelled and said in a mad voice with terror on her face, "don't do that to your brother, do not hit each other, do you know what day is? it's friday the 13th," so we stopped playing, "what a bummer" - i said.

i always heard stories that friday the 13th is such a bad day, the old people usually tell some scary stuff and events that usually happen every time this day comes. when i go to school, my teacher would say, "be careful, go straight home." because of all that stuff that i've been hearing on tv, from family, friends, books - i kinda develop a little fear about friday the 13th even though nothing really happened to me in a bad way.

but that was ages ago.

now that i have come to my senses, i just reminisce and think whether there is really a truth to all of that or is it just a scary non-sense crap. so i made an investigation and talked to my long lost uncle google regarding friday the 13th. here's an excerpt to that conversation:

arlini: uncle google, can you tell me more about friday the 13th?

uncle google: it is just a most widespread superstition. an urban legend. thirteen is an unlucky day and number for some and that friday is an unlucky day for some. there are a lot of history around the world to make believe that something bad does happen on this day. for instance, legend has it: if 13 people sit down to dinner together, one will die within the year. the turks so disliked the number 13 that it was practically expunged from their vocabulary (brewer, 1894). many cities do not have a 13th street or a 13th avenue. many buildings don't have a 13th floor. if you have 13 letters in your name, you will have the devil's luck (jack the ripper, charles manson, jeffrey dahmer, theodore bundy and albert de salvo all have 13 letters in their names). misfortunes and accidents increased for the record. there are 13 witches in a coven.

if you wanna know more, you can read your auntie wikipedia's email response here.

arlini: thanks so much uncle google and say hi to auntie wiki for me.

uncle google: certainly.

to sum it all up, it's really up to you to believe or not. however, whether you do or not, the only advice i can give you is to pray hard.
